Deploy Friday: A Horror Story Based on True Events
The Tragedy Begins
Everyone knows the rule: Friday is read-only day. But human arrogance has no limits. "It's quick", they said. "What could go wrong?", they asked.
5:00 PM - The Deploy
The pipeline went green. Success! The team started packing their bags. Slack was quiet. Too quiet.
5:15 PM - The First Scream
Support messaged: "Customers can't log in". You think: "Must be cache". Clear cache. Nothing.
5:30 PM - The Discovery
The "text change" actually changed the configuration file encoding from UTF-8 to ASCII. All accents became alien characters. The login system crashed when trying to read the username "João".
6:00 PM - The Chaos
The rollback failed. The morning backup was corrupted (nobody tested the restore, classic). The CTO is calling. Your pizza got cold. The weekend ended before it began.
The Lesson
Don't deploy on Friday. It doesn't matter if it's "just text". The universe hates Friday deploys. Respect the IT gods or pay with your sanity.
